Some of you may have noticed some new additions to my bath & body range and organic tea range over the last month. I have gone totally and utterly bonkers over Matcha!!! What's Matcha you ask? It's a wonderful deeply green stone ground powder made from young tea leaves. This Matcha stuff packs a punch and is soooo good for you. Just 1 cup of it is equivalent to 10 cups of regular green tea in terms of antioxidant content! Fabulous, isn't it! I know right!
I tried Matcha a few years back when my brother introduced me to it. I was wondering why this green tea was so green and had so much more flavour than the regular varieties ( I didn't know it was Matcha at the time). My brother told me what it was and then I was hooked. Fast forward a few years later and it's the new best thing in super foods and well there are great reasons for this.
I loved it so much that I decided to create 3 new products - I had to stop myself at 3 hahah. So there is my Matcha Beauty Mask, The tea itself (mind you I didn't create it - I just sourced some really awesome Matcha) and my Matcha Tub Tea. I decided to call them Green with Envy, because well everyone will be green with envy when they see how wonderful your skin looks after using Matcha and drinking Matcha!
So firstly onto the Matcha Mask - I love this as it's so soothing to the skin and is helping to deliver beneficial antioxidants right to the skins surface. Matcha has wonderful detoxifying qualities so it really helps to clear the skin of impurities and at the same time keeping your skin hydrated and baby soft! You can find my Green with Envy Matcha Mask HERE
Now onto my Green with Envy Tub Tea. We all know I love my Tub Tea! So this one has all the ingredients that I normally have in my Tub Teas just with Matcha as well. In the tea bag component I've also added regular organic green tea so you can still use the bag to exfoliate your body once the tea leaves have softened. Just imagine soaking in a wonderfully green bath with lots of antioxidants and other fabulous detoxifying ingredients, sip on a cup of Matcha too and all your friends will be green with envy! You can purchase my Green with Envy Matcha Tub Tea HERE
Last but definitely not least - My Matcha Green Tea - organic of course! I love to drink it in the morning or add it to a green smoothie. I have also been experimenting with making Matcha jelly, it's pretty yummy. Maybe when next time I slip into Matcha madness I'l make a Matcha ice cream!
For a long time now I have had a strong love for tea and organic produce. A few years back I was studying Nutrition and some of my units included Herbal Medicine (the units I enjoyed most in this course) but wondered where I would go once I had completed my studies. Eventually I realised I couldn't see myself starting or working in a practice and I ceased my studies in Nutrition. I felt like I had wasted a lot of time and money once I came to this realisation.
Years later Peacock & Lotus was born and now my label is growing and changing with the addition of my wonderful organic tea blends! In retrospect I can see how my actions have led me to where Peacock & Lotus is now and how some of the small steps which I felt were mistakes, actually led me on a path to what I truly wanted. My love of all things natural has led me to follow a new path and an interesting turn of events for my label Peacock & Lotus.
The addition of organic teas to the Peacock & Lotus family has been a source of joy and it's a big bonus that I get to have fun experimenting with blends and then taking some time out to sip on a lovely cup of organic tea! I love to unwind at the end of the day with a nice cup of tea and a nice hot bath - it's the ultimate way to relax and take a load off. I absolutely love earl grey tea, so I knew I had to create a new and exciting blend with rose petals and cornflowers. Visually it is so pretty - the colours are vibrant and the tea tastes pretty darn good if I say so myself! I love this blend at the beginning of the day and then to settle in and relax before bed, I love to sip on a cup of organic green tea with lavender and calendula. This blend has a slight honeyed taste to it, taking the edge off the bitterness that green tea can sometimes leave on the palate.
I have packaged these lovely tea blends in 20g and 80g packs so if you want to try a variety of teas you can purchase the 20g and if it's to your liking, the 80g packs are also available for purchase. These little packets make for wonderful gifts and I also have them available in a 3 pack gift set. I love blending these teas so much I created another product called tub tea. Using some of my tea blends with added essential oils and epsom salts, these little bath time beauties are fabulous to pop in the tub whilst sipping on one of our organic tea blends! Currently I have a lovely blend of pink grapefruit & bergamot tub tea named 'Invigorate Me', which uses a herbal brew (my earl grey blend). The organza bag which encases the tub tea can also be used to brush the body helping to exfoliate the skin with all natural ingredients. New varieties of this product are coming soon, check here to view our current Tub Teas. More on my Tub Teas in my next post.
This year I will be taking Peacock & Lotus to the next level, many changes are taking place and I can't wait to share them with the world. Peacock & Lotus has always had a strong focus on nature, but in 2015 this focus will truly come to light in many new and exciting ways! I am aware I am being a little vague, but soon enough these changes will be there for the world to see. It's in the works!
What I can share with you now is that I am in the midst of creating my new bath and body range which is an all natural botanical range of products using essential oils. Natural products have always been a passion of mine for a long long time and being an earth sign, this is no surprise. A few years back I was studying Naturopathy and then Nutrition trying to work out my path and somehow I found myself creating headpieces - I started to realise that my passions lied in handmade items with a focus on nature. Now I am taking what I learned from my Herbal Medicine units to create this new range of all natural bath & body products. This year will see me back in the study game, gaining all the knowledge that I can on Herbalism and Aromatherapy. Back in the day some of my work colleagues used to call me 'The Witch Doctor' a term of endearment perhaps? The reason I didn't complete my studies all those years ago, was that I couldn't see myself seeing clients day in and day out, but now I can see that my interest in Herbal medicine and Aromatherapy are still there, but now my path has changed. My passion is back, and I am keen to share my new products with all of you!
My passion for handmade hair adornments and accessories is certainly still alive and well and I am certainly not moving away from creating beautiful adornments. Handmade is part of me and always will be, I am merely expanding my horizons and conquering one passion at a time. What can be better than combining all of your passions into one place that you can truly say is 'you'! If we are not moving, growing and changing we're just standing still. This life is here to be lived and I am truly going to make the most of it, doing what I love. I hope that everyone else out there is living that life and being their true self, life is just that more enjoyable when you do. Until next time - Do What YOU Love :)
